Grateful Plains

“Earth laughs in flowers.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

We hobbled our way through 2020 adjusting our debut retail store and farmers market to curbside pickup and limited sales. As we sow thousands of seeds in the greenhouse, we are ready to revamp for 2021 and offer inspirational blooms and full community enthusiasm this coming season.

We know you missed our farm tours, field days and regular volunteer gatherings last year and are carefully cultivating an environment on the farm that supports lingering mandates. We most certainly missed your smiling faces and healthful appetites tremendously and are eager to be in full production in the coming months.

As we navigate limited exposure and hesitant public attendance at our events, farmers flower market and visiting our cozy, tight quarters shop, we have decided to launch Membership levels to engage our enthusiastic fans ahead of season.

Now through April 10th, we will offer open enrollment for our seasonal farm flowers (mixed containers, bedding annuals, butterfly garden perennials, organic veggie seedlings, seed packs & hanging baskets). By joining as a member, you will get first pick at our weekly popup flower cart to pick farm fresh bouquets throughout the season. We must limit the spots available, so sign up now!

Welcome 2021!

The Grateful in Plains

Gratitude is a vibration. It is a frequency that resonates each time a person interrupts challenges by looking at the bright side and truly embracing all that is possible, even in seasons of drought and pestilence. When plants grow on land that is loved and cherished, something magical happens. Abundance. Beauty. Rare seeds, heritage breeds.

Growing forever together

One day not too long ago, a 5th generation family farmer born and raised in the Illinois River Valley met an amazing woman who shared his work ethic, passion for working the ground and enthusiasm for living life to its fullest. He married her as soon as she believed she deserved to live happily ever after. And they do. . .

Causes dear to us: Preventative health, whole body nutrition, local food movement, small farm specialty crops, environmental philanthropy, telling our story in poem, prose & blooms.

For the 2021 growing season, our farm transitions from revival to crop production mode. As we adapt in the aftermath of global pandemic quarantine, our main delivery remains curbside pickup and virtual learning. We are very sad our retail space in the Village of Grand Ridge mat not be open for fresh cut flower flowers or market days. We will host outdoor shopping by appointment only just before Mother's Day 2021. We intend to also host a very special Rural Heritage Exhibit in August.
